iTunes seemed to understand that all of these were different books and grouped them as such with proper cover art, but Plex is just seeing them as one big book per author folder. Apparently when iTunes imported all of these audiobooks, instead of them being in their own album folders per author, all the files are sitting in just an Author folder, with each book all together. Isn't there a way to just have Plex app see the Library on the connected External Drive?Īlso, I've tried to rescan the library but it never adds all the audiobooks properly.

If I am understanding how this works, the Library is actually uploaded online via Plex Media Server, so that has to be running for this to work. I think I have this setup right, installed both Plex and Plex Media Server and created an account. Audiobookshelf is a self-hosted audiobook and podcast server. Music app doesn't work, and Books app wants to copy all of my audiobooks from the external down to the buried fold on my OS hard drive which doesn't have enough space. So I am trying to setup Plex on Mac Monterey to replace my old iTunes library for using Audiobooks.
